Position Overview:

A healthcare facility in North Bergen, NJ is seeking a skilled and compassionate Ultrasound Technologist to join their team in a breast imaging center. The technologist will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to assist medical staff in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with departmental protocols.

  • Prepare and position patients, explain procedures, and ensure comfort and safety throughout.

  • Operate ultrasound equipment and ensure images meet quality standards.

  • Assist with specialized procedures, including biopsies and color-flow studies.

  • Perform portable exams and assist physicians during procedures when required.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and image archives using EMR systems (e.g., EPIC, TeleTracking).

  • Clean, calibrate, and maintain ultrasound equipment and supplies.

  • Provide guidance to students or new staff when needed.

  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety regulations, and infection control standards.

  • Participate in occasional on-call duties as per departmental policy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program.

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of training in Allied Health or related college coursework.

  • BLS (CPR) certification.

  • Solid understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and ultrasound operation.

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs., and stand for 6+ hours per shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound imaging.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in ultrasound image acquisition and basic interpretation.

  • Knowledge of infection control procedures, emergency protocols, and patient care standards.

  • Experience using EMR systems (especially EPIC) and digital imaging archiving.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to ongoing education and maintaining CEU credits.
