Job Title: Assistant Nurse Manager – Behavioral & Psychiatric Health
Location: Belle Mead, NJ 08502
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 x 12-hour shifts)
Week 1: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
Week 2: Monday, Friday, Saturday
Duration: 13 Weeks (High possibility of extension)
Compensation:
Local Candidates: $1,800 – $2,000 per week
Travel Candidates: $1,900 – $2,400 per week
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) plays a key role in supporting the execution of strategic nursing initiatives and priorities within the behavioral and psychiatric health unit. This position includes both operational and administrative responsibilities to ensure high standards of patient care, staff performance, and unit efficiency.
Actively participate in unit- and hospital-level decision-making.
Provide operational support to nursing leadership.
Recognize staff achievements and contribute to a positive work culture.
Coordinate staffing and support throughput and quality outcomes.
Promote staff competency, quality of care, and patient safety.
Manage unit efficiency and departmental activities.
In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the ANM will also:
Assist with staff recruitment and retention initiatives.
Lead or participate in unit huddles and employee rounding.
Conduct and document corrective actions or counseling when needed.
Conduct performance evaluations for assigned team members.
Support onboarding and orientation of new staff.
Address and escalate labor/management issues where necessary.
Oversee payroll processes, staff scheduling, and daily staffing adjustments.
Minimum of 3 years of recent nursing experience in behavioral and psychiatric health or a related specialty.
Previous experience as a Supervisor or Charge Nurse is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in behavioral and psychiatric health care is strongly preferred.
Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license or valid multi-state compact license
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
