Duration: 13 Weeks
Pay Rate: $52 - $55 per hour
Schedule: 36 hours per week, Rotating Days, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, Every Other Weekend, Every Other Holiday

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care to patients. This position requires the identification of acute and chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction, initiation of ventilatory support, and the use of approved protocols and procedures for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ventilatory support, including initiating ventilator settings, weaning, and troubleshooting

  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as ABG draws and sputum specimen collection

  • Interpret ABG results, perform bedside spirometry, and conduct capnography

  • Monitor respiratory conditions during patient transport within the hospital and to other facilities

  • Assist with codes, rapid response teams (RRTs), conscious sedation, intubations, and bronchoscopies

  • Administer therapeutic gases (e.g., oxygen, Heliox) and aerosolized medications

  • Provide airway clearance therapies and maintain artificial airways (e.g., tracheostomy, endotracheal suctioning)

  • Assist providers with tracheostomy tube changes and provide trach care

  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds to offer clinical expertise

  • Document care accurately in the EMR and perform charge reconciliation

  • Precept and train other staff, students, and departments as needed

  • Maintain respiratory equipment and supplies

  • Participate in continuing education to enhance professional growth

  • Demonstrate excellent bedside manner and provide exceptional patient care

Qualifications:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)

  • Massachusetts state licensure in Respiratory Therapy

  • Current BLS certification

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire

  • Minimum one-year critical care experience preferred
