Position Overview:
A healthcare facility in Cooperstown, NY is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to adults with diverse medical needs, including continuous cardiac monitoring.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing care to adult patients in a medical-surgical/telemetry environment

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry data; respond to abnormal rhythms and arrhythmias

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans

  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers

  • Perform clinical tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and oxygen therapy

  • Continuously assess patient status and report significant changes to the care team

  • Accurately document all care activities in the electronic medical record system

  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes

  • Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families

  • Adhere strictly to infection control and hospital safety protocols

  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide life-saving interventions, including CPR

  • Operate and maintain telemetry monitoring equipment and manage related supplies


Qualifications:

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State

  • BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-acuity, fast-paced setting

  • Prior experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing strongly preferred
