Requirements:

  • Valid NJDEP Nuclear Medicine Technologist License

  • Certification by ARRT (Nuclear Medicine) or NMTCB

  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association)

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital setting as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate nuclear medicine equipment to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders and safety protocols

  • Assess diagnostic images for quality using PACS

  • Perform radionuclide procedures including PET/CT and cardiac imaging

  • Prepare tracer compounds, calibrate instruments, and assay radiopharmaceuticals

  • Comply with NRC and state regulations for handling and disposing of radioactive materials

  • Maintain accurate documentation related to safety and pharmaceutical usage

  • Ensure equipment and work areas are kept contamination-free

  • Collaborate with physicians and medical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes

  • Utilize EPIC, Nuclear Medicine Information Systems, and scheduling software for administrative tasks

  • Rotate through departments such as Cardiology and PET/CT

  • Adhere to patient communication standards such as AIDET and maintain HIPAA compliance

  • Deliver patient-centered care, modifying communication based on individual needs
