Job Title: Registered Nurse – Cath Lab 

Department: Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory 
Reports To: Nurse Manager / Cath Lab Supervisor 
 

Position Summary: 

The Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care during cardiac catheterization procedures and other interventional cardiovascular procedures. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes and patient safety. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare patients for diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including pre-op assessments, IV insertion, and medication administration. 
  • Assist physicians during procedures by managing sterile fields, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications as directed. 
  • Monitor patients during and after procedures for signs of complications and respond promptly to emergency situations. 
  • Provide post-procedural care including recovery monitoring, education, and discharge planning. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, medications, and patient responses. 
  • Operate and troubleshoot relevant equipment including hemodynamic monitors and EKG machines. 
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols in all aspects of patient care. 
  • Participate in on-call rotation, responding to emergency procedures as needed. 
  • Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and other team members to ensure high-quality care. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred) 
  • Licensure: Current RN license in TX and/or Compact. 
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; CCRN or RCIS preferred 
  • Experience: 2 years of critical care, telemetry, or Cath Lab nursing experience preferred 
  • Skills: Strong critical thinking, communication, and technical skills; ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
