Shift: Monday – Friday | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (5x8-hour shifts)
Duration: 13 Weeks (High potential for extension)

Position Overview

A healthcare facility in Bricktown, NJ is seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician for a 13-week contract assignment. This role is critical to ensuring the safe and effective preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and patient care equipment. Candidates must be detail-oriented, knowledgeable in sterilization protocols, and capable of maintaining high standards of infection control and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and patient care equipment according to departmental policies

  • Safely operate sterilizers including Steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris

  • Conduct and interpret biological and Bowie Dick tests, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance

  • Complete and maintain accurate sterilization records, including load tracking and chemical integrator verification

  • Use computerized instrument count sheets accurately for assembly and tracking

  • Prepare case carts based on physician preference cards, including instruments, medications, and specialty items

  • Notify nursing staff of any shortages and collaborate with coordinators to resolve issues

  • Lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. lifting, 60 lbs. pushing/pulling), and remain on feet for the duration of shift

  • Follow universal precautions and proper PPE usage

  • Adhere to the facility’s organizational competencies and safety protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in sterile processing or a related field

  • BLS certification (American Heart Association required)

  • CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
