Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a Cardiac Services team at a reputable facility in Ithaca, NY. This is a contract position ideal for a compassionate and skilled RN with strong cardiac and critical care experience. The role supports procedures in the Cardiac Medical Center (CMC), providing direct care before, during, and after cardiac interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for cardiac procedures, including education, consent verification, and physical prep

  • Monitor patient vitals and condition throughout procedures and recovery

  • Administer medications and contrast agents per physician direction

  • Assist in sterile procedures by scrubbing, circulating, or monitoring as needed

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

  • Provide comprehensive post-procedure education and discharge instructions

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

  • Respond promptly to emergencies using ACLS protocols

  • Maintain and ensure readiness of equipment and sterile supplies

Qualifications:
Education:

  • ADN or BSN in Nursing (BSN preferred)

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active RN license in New York State (required)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required

  • CCRN or RCIS – Preferred (or willingness to obtain during contract)

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience

  • Preferred: 2+ years in critical care, telemetry, or Cath Lab

  • Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy and hemodynamic monitoring

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to stay calm in high-stress and emergency situations

  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities

  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills

  • Proficient with EMR and electronic documentation

  • Flexibility with hours and participation in on-call rotation
