Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Location: Ithaca, NY 14850
Job Type: Full-Time, 13-Week Contract (with possible extension)
Shift: 12-Hour Shifts (Days or Nights)


Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a compassionate and highly skilled NICU Registered Nurse to join the team at a reputable hospital in Ithaca, NY. The RN will provide critical nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in a Level II or III NICU. This role demands advanced clinical skills, the ability to respond to emergencies promptly, and a passion for providing family-centered care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care to neonates with a wide range of medical conditions including prematurity, respiratory distress, infections, and surgical needs.

  • Monitor vital signs, administer medications, perform assessments, and document changes in patient conditions.

  • Work closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other NICU staff to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.

  • Support parents and families, offering education and emotional support throughout the infant's NICU stay.

  • Utilize critical thinking skills to make timely and informed clinical decisions.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.

  • Follow hospital policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with state and federal regulations.


Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted NY RN license

  • BLS and NRP certification (AHA required)

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Level II or III NICU

  • Experience with ventilators, IV therapy, and neonatal monitoring equipment

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to remain calm in high-stress and emergency situations


Preferred Experience:

  • Level III or IV NICU experience

  • Knowledge of developmental care and family-integrated care models

  • Experience with EPIC or Cerner EMR systems

  • Stable Course certification (a plus)
