Job Title: Mental Health Therapy Aide

Shift: Night Shift | 12-hour shifts

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Therapy Aide for a contract role in an acute psychiatric setting. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing compassionate and effective care to individuals with psychiatric conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect care to patients in an inpatient psychiatric unit.

  • Record and monitor vital signs, intake, and output.

  • Assist patients during admission, physical examinations, and specimen collection.

  • Support activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene assistance.

  • Facilitate patient transport and orientation to unit procedures and expectations.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

  • Observe, report, and document patient responses to treatments and behavioral patterns.

  • Engage patients in therapeutic activities, fostering a safe and supportive environment.

  • Intervene in crisis situations under the guidance of nursing staff.

  • Conduct routine safety and environmental checks on the unit.

  • Contribute to the therapeutic milieu and collaborate in unit management initiatives.

  • Apply age-specific clinical and psychological care interventions.

Qualifications:

Education & Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Required)

  • Mental Health Certificate (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of psychiatric experience required

  • At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare or mental health setting preferred

  • Strongly preferred: Prior inpatient psychiatric care experience

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong observational and critical thinking abilities

  • Ability to work independently in a high-paced, acute care environment

  • Experience with EMR systems is essential
