Weβre looking for a highly skilled and motivated Optometric Technician to support a busy ophthalmology practice in the heart of New York City. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with top-tier physicians, grow your clinical expertise, and make a real impact on patient care.
ποΈ Clinical Support & Testing
Conduct preliminary eye exams: visual acuity, dilation, refraction, tonometry, pupil assessments, OCT, and visual field testing
Assist with central/peripheral visual field tests, ocular motility, color vision, and pharmacological pupil testing
Prepare patients for dilation and explain procedures clearly and compassionately
π Patient Flow & Coordination
Direct patient flow for eye exams and procedures
Collect medical history and assist in preparing patient charts
Coordinate lab tests, diagnostic imaging, and outpatient procedures as requested by physicians
π§ Equipment Handling & Maintenance
Calibrate and maintain ophthalmic instruments including slit lamps, keratometers, tonometers, etc.
Ensure consultation rooms are stocked, clean, and ready for use
π οΈ Surgical & Procedural Support
Sterilize and prepare surgical instruments
Assist physicians with in-office procedures, laser treatments, and operating room setups as needed
β Experience with:
Dilation, Visual Acuity Testing, Tonometry
Refraction, Pupil Assessments, OCT & Visual Field Testing
β Certification:
Ophthalmic Technician Certificate (required)
β Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail
Excellent communication and patient-relations skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
