Job Title: Patient Care Technician (CWR)
Location: Neptune, NJ
Hours:
3 x 12-hour shifts per week
Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Every other weekend required
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for supporting registered nurses in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients. This role involves providing both clinical and comfort support to patients in a Med Surg/Telemetry Unit, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients under hospital standards and policies.
Welcome and identify patients accurately; verify ID bracelets.
Assist with patient admissions, assessments, exams, and procedures.
Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens using aseptic technique.
Conduct EKGs and document results appropriately.
Prepare patient rooms and ensure proper equipment availability.
Assist with patient transport, meals, hygiene, and comfort care.
Record vital signs, glucose levels, daily weights, intake/output.
Report patient condition changes to nursing staff immediately.
Maintain inventory and stock assigned areas.
Provide culturally and developmentally appropriate care and communication.
Use Epic for charting and recordkeeping.
Minimum 1 year of PCT experience in a hospital setting.
Proficiency in IV setup, phlebotomy, EKG, and Epic EMR system.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
Certification as CNA, CMA, or PCT including Phlebotomy, EKG, and nursing assistant training in both theoretical and clinical settings.
