Job Title: Surgical Technologist (CWR)
Location: Neptune, NJ 07754
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3x12-hour shifts/week)
Total Hours: 36 hours/week

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Surgical Technologist to join a dynamic surgical team. This role is responsible for supporting surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, ensuring all instruments are handled and cleaned per policy, and assisting the surgical team throughout operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean, handle, and organize surgical instruments per standardized policies.

  • Follow surgeon preference cards and maintain efficient and sterile setups.

  • Maintain counts of sponges, needles, and instruments, and ensure medications are administered and labeled properly.

  • Handle specimens per operating room protocols.

  • Decontaminate and sterilize instruments and ensure proper disposal of contaminated equipment.

  • Remove used surgical equipment and dispose of biohazard materials as per guidelines.

  • Collaborate with circulating nurses to plan and evaluate patient care and surgical team effectiveness.

  • Update skill proficiency checklists regularly when rotated through specialty areas.

  • Safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs., push/pull up to 400 lbs., and stand for the duration of the shift.

  • Deliver culturally and developmentally appropriate care tailored to individual patient needs.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and the healthcare team at appropriate literacy and developmental levels.

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or appropriate formal training program.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Professional certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) is preferred.
