Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for a 13-week assignment in a reputable outpatient setting in Syracuse, NY. This role is ideal for an LPN/LVN with experience in an acute care setting, who can perform a wide range of patient care and administrative tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:

    • Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.

    • Prepare patients for exams and assist with routine exam procedures.

    • Set up trays for injections and assist in taking and recording vital signs.

    • Measure and document patient progress, and assist physicians during exams and procedures.

    • Administer injections and assist with pap smears and other clinical procedures.

  • Administrative and Office Support:

    • Perform general office duties including reception, appointment scheduling, filing, and chart preparation.

    • Communicate with insurance companies to obtain authorizations for physical therapy, MRIs, CT scans, surgeries, and other medical services.

    • Contact primary care physicians to obtain new patient referrals or extensions for existing referrals.

  • Clinical Environment Management:

    • Maintain clean and organized exam rooms and clinical areas.

    • Assist in the implementation of nursing care activities as outlined in the nursing care plan.

    • Observe patient responses to treatments and report them appropriately to the medical team.

    • Support physicians in providing patient care and participate in the overall management of the nursing unit.

  • EMR Usage:

    • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is highly preferred to ensure accurate patient documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Valid LPN/LVN license in the state of New York.

  • Experience: Previous experience in an outpatient or acute care setting preferred, with the ability to work independently with minimal orientation and supervision.

  • Skills: Strong communication skills and proficiency in using EMR systems.

  • Responsibilities: Ability to manage a variety of patient care tasks, office functions, and clinical activities efficiently.
