The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting physicians and healthcare providers by performing clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient and effective patient care. This role serves as a key liaison between patients and the healthcare team in various outpatient or clinical settings.
Assist healthcare providers during patient exams and procedures.
Measure and document vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate.
Administer medications and immunizations (as certified and permitted by state regulations).
Collect specimens (e.g., blood, urine) for lab testing and perform point-of-care testing as directed.
Prepare exam rooms and ensure cleanliness and proper equipment setup.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR).
Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and handle patient intake and discharge procedures.
Provide patient education and follow-up instructions as directed by providers.
Manage clinical supplies inventory and maintain equipment.
Promote a safe, respectful, and compassionate environment for patients.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) preferred but not required.
BLS/CPR certification required.
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Previous experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting is a plus.
