Job Type: 13-Week Contract (Extendable)
Shift: 3x12 Hours (Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) Monday, Thursday, Friday, and one Saturday per month (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Ambulatory Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care in an outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have expertise in pediatric care, strong assessment skills, and the ability to deliver culturally sensitive care, particularly for Spanish-speaking patients. This position requires a collaborative approach, working with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and adults in an ambulatory care setting.

  • Perform telephone triage, assessing and addressing patients’ needs remotely.

  • Administer vaccines according to pediatric immunization schedules.

  • Conduct well-child visits and manage pediatric conditions such as asthma, gastroenteritis, obesity, and developmental delays including autism.

  • Collect nasopharyngeal specimens and assist with diagnostic testing.

  • Educate families on asthma management, breastfeeding, and nutritional support.

  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient interactions and care in the EPIC system.

  • Collaborate with social services, respiratory services, phlebotomy, and interpretation services.

Unit Details:

  • Common diagnoses: Well-child visits, asthma, viruses, gastroenteritis, developmental delays (autism), and obesity.

  • Procedures performed: Nasopharyngeal specimen collection.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active RN License.

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.

  • Minimum 3 years of pediatric RN experience.

  • Proficiency in EPIC documentation system.

  • Strong pediatric med-surge nursing skills.

  • Experience with hyperbilirubinemia management, breastfeeding support, pediatric dosage calculations, seizure disorder management, oral/nasal suctioning, oxygen delivery systems, infection prevention, and wound care.

  • Telephone triage experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IV therapy and phlebotomy experience.

  • Previous travel nursing experience (this unit does not accept first-time travelers).

  • Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
