Title: RN - Wound Care
Location: New York, NY, 10004
Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Duration: 13 Weeks + High Possibility of Extension

Pay Range: $2,000 - $3,000 per week (depending on experience)

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care. Perform physical assessments and develop care plans based on diagnosis and individual patient needs. Recommend appropriate medications and treatments.

  • Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care, assisting in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment.

  • Assess and document patient response to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff.

  • Collaborate with the healthcare team and make referrals to other disciplines as needed.

  • Educate, counsel, and assist patients and families in managing and preventing complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence issues.

  • Develop and provide staff education programs, including new employee orientation, in-service training, and continuing education.

  • Conduct routine assessments of patients at risk for pressure injuries and initiate preventive measures.

  • Escalate and communicate identified challenges, including ethical issues and conflict resolution.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to recommend best practices based on assessments.

  • Participate in Unit/Department Quality Improvement and Hospital-Wide QI activities, including Incidence and Prevalence Studies.

  • Provide culturally competent patient, family, and staff education that aligns with cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs.

  • Maintain security and confidentiality of patient data in accordance with policy.

  • Maintain professional competency by engaging in continuous learning related to clinical practice and patient care.

  • Identify and refer patients to available community resources.

  • Manage asset inventory related to rented equipment such as specialty beds and Negative Pressure Devices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical/surgical experience.
  • Experience in wound and colostomy care.
  • Ability to travel to patients' homes in Massachusetts, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens for wound care consultations.

Certifications (Required Prior to Start)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Active RN License - New York
  • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) - Issued by WOCNCB, ABWM, or NAWCO
