Job Summary:

We are seeking a Certified OB Scrub Tech to join our Maternal Child Services (Labor & Delivery) team. The OB Scrub Tech plays a vital role in supporting the surgical team by maintaining a sterile environment, assisting with procedures, and ensuring the readiness of instruments and supplies for obstetric and gynecologic surgeries. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, this position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support nursing staff in providing direct and indirect patient care.
  • Maintain sterile technique in the operating room, including proper scrubbing, gowning, and gloving procedures.
  • Prepare and arrange surgical instruments and supplies for Cesarean Sections, Hysterectomies, Dilation & Curettage, manual placenta removal, and cervical laceration repairs.
  • Pass instruments to surgeons and ensure accurate sponge and instrument counts.
  • Monitor and restock OR, PACU, and Labor & Delivery rooms with necessary supplies.
  • Promptly respond to patient and family requests, including answering call lights.
  • Ensure patient belongings are properly labeled, stored, and transferred appropriately.
  • Participate in emergency situations by assisting staff, isolating other patients, and providing reassurance to families.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and readiness of all equipment and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the healthcare team.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an OB Tech or Surgical Tech in an acute care setting.
  • Experience in Maternal Child Services (Labor & Delivery) required.

Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Certifications & Licensure: Required:

  • Certified OB Technician
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA Certified

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain equipment and supply readiness.
