Job Title: Patient Care Technician (CWR)

Location: Neptune, NJ 07754

Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3x12-hour shifts per week)

Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend, 3 out of 6 holidays required

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our team in the Emergency Department (ED). The PCT will assist registered nurses in patient care, ensuring efficient department operations. This role requires flexibility to float between all ED units, including observation units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and verify proper identification.
  • Assist with patient assessment, admission, physical exams, and procedures.
  • Perform blood draws (IV and capillary) using aseptic techniques for all ages.
  • Conduct EKGs as needed.
  • Ensure functionality and cleanliness of all necessary equipment.
  • Assist in transporting patients to other departments or units.
  • Support patients with meals and hygiene, including feeding and toileting assistance.
  • Restock supplies and prepare patient rooms for admission.
  • Take and document vital signs, notifying RN of any abnormalities.
  • Perform glucose finger sticks and collect specimens as required.
  • Track daily patient weights, intake, and output.
  • Maintain a safe environment by responding to call lights and alerting RNs to any patient condition changes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to provide individualized care.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association).
  • Phlebotomy and EKG certification.
  • Emergency Department experience required.
  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Patient Care Technician (PCT) with completed clinical training in phlebotomy and EKG.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a PCT or CNA in a hospital setting.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to float between all ED units, including observation.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently.
