Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients. The RN evaluates patients, assists physicians, and plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and document nursing care based on patients' needs and priorities.
• Develop and coordinate individualized care plans through ongoing assessments.
• Perform therapeutic nursing interventions and manage patient care effectively.
• Advocate for evidence-based practices and support innovations in care delivery.
• Provide patient-centered care aligned with professional nursing practice standards.
• Float to other units as required, including Adult Units, Mother/Baby, and Pediatric ED, acting as a resource nurse or extra set of hands as needed.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical pediatric nursing experience.
• At least 2 years of PICU experience.
• BLS (AHA) and PALS certifications are required.
• Ability to float to other units as needed, including Mother/Baby and Pediatric ED, as a resource nurse.
• Strong communication, assessment, and critical thinking skills.

Education Requirements

Required Education:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN).
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licenses

Required:

• BLS (AHA).
• PALS (AHA).
• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License or Multi-State Compact License.

Languages

• English (Speak, Read, Write).

Schedule

• Hours per Week: 36.
• Hours per Day: 12.
• Days per Week: 3.
• Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM.
• Every Other Weekend Required.
• On-call: As needed (rare).

Holidays: As needed.
Float Requirements: Nurses may be required to float to Mother/Baby, Pediatric ED, or other units as a resource nurse or extra set of hands.
