Job Title: Medical Assistant III
Location: St. Louis, MO 63129
Duration: 3 Months + (Extendable)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Summary: The Medical Assistant III plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of a clinical office. This position involves preparing and maintaining exam rooms, managing patient flow, and assisting with clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and verifying medications.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare exam rooms, charts, and reports to ensure readiness for office hours.
  • Assist with examinations, procedures, and lab tests.
  • Administer medications under the supervision of physicians or nurse practitioners, including vaccines, IM, and subcutaneous injections.
  • Direct patient flow and assist with special procedures and treatments.
  • Route phone messages and patient queries to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide care coordination tasks such as scheduling tests, procedures, surgeries, and follow-up appointments.
  • Communicate test results and address patient/family questions about treatments, diagnoses, and procedures.
  • Monitor supply inventory and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and ongoing education to maintain skills and competencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • At least three years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • One or more years of supervisory or team leader experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with physicians, patients, and staff.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and electronic medical records.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proof of Medical Assistant registration/certification from a certifying body, such as NHA, AAMA, or AMT (in-person proctored exams only).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with a skills assessment component (online-only certifications are not acceptable).
  • CPR certification.
