Registered Nurse - School Trips (Per Diem) - RN24-00339

Position: School Nurse
Location: Elizabeth, NJ
Reports To: Supervisor of Nursing Services

Qualifications

• New Jersey School Nurse Certificate
• Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent from the American Red Cross
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Successful completion of required criminal history background check

Performance Responsibilities

• Maintain a well-organized and functional health services office.
• Conduct medical examinations for students and refer cases to the medical inspector when necessary.
• Schedule and assist with special medical examinations as needed.
• Update and manage student health records in compliance with regulations.
• Examine students returning from illness or injury, and recommend exclusion based on communicable diseases or lack of immunizations.
• Conduct required annual screenings, including visual, audiometric, and scoliosis exams.
• Administer tuberculosis screening and manage medical emergencies promptly.
• Report accidents, monitor respiratory disease incidents, and respond appropriately to DNR orders.
• Develop health education materials and support health education instruction.
• Consult with parents regarding medical concerns and provide necessary follow-up.
• Liaise with local health agencies and submit detailed monthly reports to the Supervisor of Nursing Services.
