Job Title: CNA/Health Assistant
Job Location: Phoenix, AZ

Shift: Monday through Thursday (7:30 AM - 3:30 PM)

Job Description:
This role supports students with special needs, including those who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, or Visually Impaired, ages 3-5. Responsibilities include ensuring student safety during equipment use, assisting with lifting and personal care, maintaining accurate student records, transporting students to activities or appointments when needed, and engaging in professional development through training and workshops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor students to ensure safety during the use of assistive equipment.
  • Record and maintain student files in compliance with Federal, State, and organizational policies.
  • Assist students with physical needs such as lifting, toileting, feeding, and hygiene.
  • Transport students to and from activities or appointments as required.
  • Participate in training and workshops to enhance professional skills.

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of augmentative communication methods.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and planning abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Competence in operating assistive technology (AT) and office equipment.
  • Physical capability to reach, stoop, bend, and lift.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly desirable.

Experience Required:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in healthcare or education.

Preferred Experience:

  • ASL skills for working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students or staff.
  • Braille skills for supporting Blind or Visually Impaired students.

Education Required:

  • High school diploma and proficiency in relevant computer programs and office equipment.

Preferred Education:

  • Certified Health Assistant, Associate's Degree, or completion of 60 college units.
  • Valid Paraprofessional certification.
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention Training, or the ability to obtain them within a specified timeframe.
