Clean, process, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments, patient care equipment, and reusable medical/surgical items per established policies and procedures.
Operate sterilizers (steam, ETO, Sterrad, Steris) and ensure that biological tests and Bowie-Dick tests are conducted accurately.
Accurately complete sterilization records, documenting items processed and ensuring the use of correct labels, chemical integrators, and computerized printouts.
Assemble case carts based on surgeon preferences and specific procedures.
Alert the nursing team to any missing instruments or supply shortages and coordinate resolution with the surgical coordinator.
Adhere to Universal Precautions, PPE protocols, and medical sterilization standards to ensure staff and patient safety.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Preferred 2-4 years of experience in sterile processing or instrument processing.
Must complete a Central Processing Course or equivalent experience.
