Job Title: LPN – School Nurse (LTC)
Location: South Riding, VA 20152
Duration: 26 Weeks (extendable)
Shift: Monday – Friday (5x8), 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (8 hours/day)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with pediatric critical care experience to join our team in a school setting. The role focuses on providing individualized care to students with complex medical needs, including but not limited to:

1. Case 1:

   • Care for a nonverbal, non-ambulatory child experiencing sustained seizure activity.
   • Perform g-tube feedings and recognize various seizure types.
   • Work with another nurse to support the student in the classroom and on the bus.
   • Substitute health office coverage for other schools within County, as needed.

2. Case 2:

   • Provide 1:1 care for a high school student who is non-ambulatory.
   • Monitor respiratory status, administer oxygen via nasal cannula, and conduct pulse oximeter checks.
   • Perform suctioning as needed.
   • Ride to and from school on the bus with the student.

3. Case 3:

   • Part-time position for a 3-year-old student requiring oxygen via nasal cannula.
   • Assist with g-tube feedings and mobility using braces.
   • Ride the bus to and from school.
   • Broviac not accessed at school.
   • Current schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Potential for increased days as the school year progresses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience: Pediatric and critical care experience preferred.
• Licensure: Active Virginia LPN license required.
• Skills:
  • Proficient communication in English (verbal and written).
  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with medical software.
  • CPR and BLS certification (American Heart Association).

Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.

State License Requirements: Virginia

Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
