Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant Physician Services

Hours Per Week: 40
Hours Per Day: 8
Days Per Week: 5
Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday (5x8 hour shifts)

Job Summary:

  • The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for assisting in the clinical care of patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner. This role also includes clerical office support. The CMA will assist with patient preparation, taking vital signs, performing diagnostic tests, and maintaining accurate patient records, among other duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare exam rooms, treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments.
  • Prepare patients for physician visits and assist during examinations as directed.
  • Take and record patient vital signs in the medical chart.
  • Understand proper function and care of special medical equipment.
  • Perform EKG, Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT), Audiometry, Titmus Tests, and other tests as required after completing a performance evaluation checklist.
  • Perform lab testing such as UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other relevant tests after completing required training and evaluations.
  • Maintain and complete patient records, filing documents and reports.
  • Assist with billing and collections as needed.
  • Use office software and systems for managing patient data and scheduling.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Adapt care delivery to the specific needs of the patient, considering factors like age, culture, language, and physical abilities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers in a manner appropriate to their level of understanding.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lift at least 5 lbs., push and pull at least 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours per day.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and in a fast-paced environment.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED).

Preferred Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • AHA BLS certification.
