Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 13-week

Job Summary:

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery (L&D) will be responsible for evaluating patients, providing nursing care, and assisting physicians in the delivery and care of patients during labor and delivery. The RN will plan, implement, and document patient care, advocate for evidence-based practices, and coordinate individualized care plans.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Evaluate patients, identify their needs, and determine priorities for care based on assessments, interventions, and evaluation.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients based on initial and ongoing assessments.
  • Initiate assessments based on patient problems or needs, physician’s diagnosis, and health framework.
  • Perform therapeutic nursing interventions.
  • Manage and monitor patient care, ensuring safe and effective delivery.
  • Document patient care based on standards, patient acuity, and clinical priorities.
  • Advocate for evidence-based care practices and support the adoption of innovations in care delivery.
  • Provide patient-centered care in alignment with professional nursing practice models.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families.
  • Other duties as assigned by the healthcare facility.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D) required.
  • At least 6 months of L&D travel nurse experience required (1 year preferred).
  • EPIC experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass basic fetal monitoring test during onboarding.
  • Strong clinical skills in labor and delivery, and the ability to assess, manage, and monitor laboring patients.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Certification in AWOHNN (intermediate or advanced) or NCC in electronic fetal monitoring.
  • ACLS and Advanced AWHONN or EFM certifications preferred.

Required Education:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • BLS - AHA (Basic Life Support).
  • NRP - AHA (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License or multi-state compact license.
