Job Title: Endoscopy Technician - Contract

Location: New York, NY 10019
Hours: Monday - Friday, 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM (37.5 hours per week)
Contract Duration: 60 Days

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Endoscopy Technician to join our healthcare team on a 60-day contract basis. The Endoscopy Technician will support GI physicians during endoscopy procedures and assist with patient care tasks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). The technician will perform duties related to patient treatment, care, and equipment maintenance while demonstrating knowledge of human growth and development principles and providing essential support in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take and monitor vital signs as needed.
  • Assist with EKGs, pulse oximetry placement, and medical procedures.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot oxygen and suction equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of endoscopy equipment and notify appropriate personnel regarding any malfunctions.
  • Manage inventory control and restock exam rooms with necessary medical supplies and educational materials.
  • Collect specimens and transport them to the lab as required.
  • Retrieve endoscopy reports from the electronic system.
  • Provide instruction and information to patients, ensuring they are informed about procedures.
  • Act quickly and calmly during emergencies, initiate CPR, and assist as necessary.
  • Transport patients and equipment as required.
  • Perform other direct patient care duties as assigned by the RN, in compliance with New York State Nurse Practice Act guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and write English at a 10th-grade level and perform math at a 9th-grade level.
  • Preferred Certifications: Nursing Assistant (NA) or Patient Care Assistant (PCA).
  • Highly Recommended Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Required Certification: AHA HeartSaver or BLS.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficient in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
