Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12pm-8pm
Contract Duration: 60 days

Job Description:

The Endoscopy Technician performs various duties as a member of the healthcare team, providing treatment and care for patients and assisting in supporting the unit. The technician works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development across the lifespan. They must also recognize patient data reflective of status and report observations to the RN.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes and monitors vital signs when necessary.
  • Performs EKGs and assists with medical procedures as required.
  • Assists with the placement of pulse oximetry and performs routine maintenance/cleaning of equipment and instruments.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel regarding equipment malfunctions.
  • Assists in inventory control for medical supplies.
  • Sets up oxygen and suction as needed.
  • Collects specimens and brings them to the lab.
  • Stocks exam rooms, including educational materials.
  • Retrieves Endoscopy reports from the computer system as needed.
  • Provides instructions and information to patients.
  • Acts rapidly and calmly during emergencies, initiating CPR and providing necessary items.
  • Transports patients and equipment as needed.
  • Assists GI physicians during Endoscopy procedures.

Skills:

  • Ability to take and monitor vital signs, perform EKGs, assist in medical procedures, and maintain medical equipment.
  • Effective communication skills to provide patient instructions and collaborate with the healthcare team.
  • Familiarity with CPR, patient transport, and emergency response procedures.

Education:

  • Ability to read and write English at a 10th-grade level and perform math at a 9th-grade level.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (NA) or Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is preferred.
  • BLS certification required (AHA HeartSaver or equivalent).

Preferred Certifications:

  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are highly recommended.
