Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Location: Old Bridge, NJ 08857
Duration: 13 Weeks (Extendable)
Shift: Mon – Fri, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Summary:

Provide reception and clerical services under the supervision of the practice manager and physician(s) for patients and visitors of the practice. Duties include billing, collections, referrals, appointments, patient contact, and general secretarial tasks. Must be willing to travel within 30 minutes of home and float to various locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and direct communication courteously, following HIPAA guidelines and office policies. Answer and direct phone calls promptly.
  • Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner, making them feel welcome and important.
  • Assist patients with the sign-in process and respond to their needs promptly.
  • Handle financial responsibilities, including verifying reimbursement and billing procedures, preparing bank deposits, and daily cash receipts.
  • Monitor office supply inventory and work with team members to ensure supplies and equipment are stocked.
  • Manage patient check-in by verifying demographic information, insurance, co-payments, referrals, and paperwork. Enter patient information into the billing system.
  • Oversee the patient check-out process, ensuring accurate and timely completion, reviewing charges, collecting balances, and scheduling future appointments.
  • Promote patient satisfaction through excellent customer service and promptly communicate potential issues to the manager.
  • Maintain an efficient and accurate filing and record-keeping system. Assemble new patient folders and manage records.
  • Adapt to changing schedules to meet practice needs, including working additional hours as necessary and cross-covering when needed.
  • Serve as a pre-loader for the EMR system.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, and demonstrate accountability for improving patient care.
  • Strong focus on teamwork, continuous education, and providing high-quality patient care.
  • Ability to travel to various locations.
  • Experience with EPIC.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Prior receptionist or clerical experience in a medical office.
  • Epic experience.
