Job Description:

The Associate Director of Nursing (ADON) in Emergency Medical Services plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality emergency care while supporting the nursing staff and facilitating effective operational management. This position requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively in high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and support to nursing staff within the EMS department.
  • Mentor and guide nursing personnel to enhance their professional development and clinical skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided by nursing staff in emergency situations.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives based on patient outcomes and feedback.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of policies and procedures related to emergency nursing practice.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding emergency medical services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure cohesive patient care.
  • Act as a liaison between nursing staff and upper management to address concerns and improve workflow.
  • Lead and support nursing staff during emergency situations, ensuring adherence to protocols and effective response.
  • Conduct post-incident debriefings to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for the EMS nursing staff, ensuring adequate supplies and equipment are available.
  • Participate in the procurement and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment used in emergency care.
