Shift: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will provide essential patient care and administrative support in a healthcare setting. Responsibilities include assisting with clinical procedures, managing patient flow, handling clerical tasks, and maintaining a clean, safe environment in compliance with regulatory standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with patient care, including venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, specimen collection, and preparing patients for exams.
  2. Support physicians during procedures, relay instructions to patients and families, and assist with patient mobility and dressing.
  3. Perform clerical duties, such as handling patient medical records, entering orders into the EMR system, and processing prescription refill requests.
  4. Ensure the examination room and instruments are properly sterilized according to infection control policies.
  5. Inventory, order, and restock medical supplies.
  6. Maintain a safe work environment by following safety standards and adhering to personal protective equipment requirements.
  7. Check expiration dates on medications and supplies and dispose of them according to policy.
  8. Assist with scheduling surgeries or procedures and preparing necessary forms and charts.
  9. Maintain, adjust, and confirm patient appointments and insurance information.
  10. Perform proficient phlebotomy duties and assist with patient registration and insurance verification.
  11. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and follow all legal regulations for patient care and data handling.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records or billing systems preferred.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform heavy physical activity, including frequent and sustained lifting, carrying, and walking.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
  • BCLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
