Job Title: Medical Assistant 
Location: St. Louis, MO

Hours Per Week: 40.00
Hours Per Day: 8.00
Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant II will assist in maintaining the smooth operation of the clinical office by preparing and maintaining exam rooms, patient charts, and records. The role involves interacting directly with patients in a clinical setting, performing clinical tasks like obtaining vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and medication verification. Additional responsibilities include assisting with procedures, patient coordination, and administrative tasks related to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare exam rooms and gather necessary documents and charts.
  • Interact with patients by obtaining vital signs, completing EKGs, performing phlebotomy, and verifying medications.
  • Assist with examinations, procedures, and lab tests.
  • Handle the renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications per standing orders.
  • Administer medications under the supervision of physicians or nurse practitioners.
  • Coordinate patient care tasks like test results, appointment scheduling, and follow-ups.
  • Assist with scheduling surgeries, diagnostic procedures, and admissions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Answer basic patient/family questions regarding treatments, diagnosis, and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage supply inventory, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Participate in continuing education, staff programs, and quality improvement activities.
  • Comply with OSHA and state/federal regulatory standards.

Skills & Experience:

  • Two or more years of Medical Assistant experience highly preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records and strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proof of Medical Assistant registration/certification required within six months of hire.
  • BLS (CPR) certification required (Online certifications without a skills assessment component are not sufficient).

Preferred Certifications: Medical Assistant credentials from NHA, AAMA, or AMT preferred (must be from in-person proctored exams).
