Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Services Unit
Location: Ithaca, NY
Shift time: 7 AM : 7 PM (3 Days x 12Hours )

Floating:

  • Required to float to Adult and Adolescent Inpatient Behavioral Health Units.

Experience:

  • Meditech experience preferred but not required.

Position Overview:

  • As a Registered Nurse in the Behavioral Services Unit, you will provide comprehensive nursing care for patients and families with diverse needs, ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex. The role requires quick recognition of normal and abnormal parameters in the physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Assessment:

  • Assess and monitor patients, recognizing deviations and abnormalities in their health status.
  • Use a person-centered care approach to create and prioritize care plans based on patient and family needs.
  • Involve patients and families in setting care goals.

Technical Competence:

  • Demonstrate expertise in implementing necessary technical skills for patient care.
  • Stay updated on organizational policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance.
  • Serve as a resource for peers, fostering teamwork and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Critical Thinking and Documentation:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care and follow through with appropriate clinical decisions.
  • Proactively address potential and actual problems while ensuring accurate clinical documentation.

Evidence-Based Practice:

  • Recognize the importance of research and evidence-based practices in delivering quality care.
  • Take responsibility for continuous professional development within the team and care system.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Assist peers in acquiring department-specific knowledge and skills.
  • Provide leadership in maintaining patient care standards and serve as a resource in clinical practice and operational systems.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Meditech experience is preferred but not required.
