Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill patients with complex medical conditions. This role requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and effective management of advanced life-support equipment. The RN must handle critically ill patients, administer medications, and respond to rapidly changing conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients with conditions such as sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), heart failure, renal failure, and multi-organ failure.
  • Administer advanced therapies like continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and Impella devices.
  • Continuously monitor patient vital signs, assess patient conditions, and perform interventions as needed.
  • Operate life-support and monitoring equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors.
  • Work closely with a team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other nurses, to create and implement care plans.
  • Communicate patient progress and changes in condition promptly to the healthcare team.
  • Follow hospital protocols for managing critical conditions, such as post-cardiac arrest care, targeted temperature management, respiratory failure, and shock.
    Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders.

Licensure:

  • Valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand before starting).

Experience:

  • Previous experience in critical care or ICU is preferred but not mandatory for first-time travelers.

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.Work Environment:
