Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Urgent Care
Location: Syracuse, NY, 13202
Shift : Day 8 Hours Shift

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Urgent Care provides direct patient care in a fast-paced, walk-in medical setting. The RN works as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, treat, and educate patients with non-emergent but urgent health conditions. This role involves triaging patients, administering medications, providing wound care, and collaborating with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial patient assessments to identify the severity of illness or injury.
  • Triage patients based on clinical condition and urgency, ensuring those with critical needs are prioritized.
  • Collect patient health history, vital signs, and perform physical assessments.
  • Provide timely care for a range of urgent health issues, including minor injuries, infections, respiratory illnesses, and other non-life-threatening conditions.
  • Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments as ordered by the healthcare provider.
  • Assist with minor procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, and removal of foreign bodies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Communicate patient status, test results, and response to treatment with the provider and other healthcare team members.
  • Provide patients and families with instructions and education on managing health conditions, including medication administration, wound care, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure patients understand discharge instructions and any necessary follow-up appointments.
  • Accurately document all patient interactions, assessments, treatments, and medication administration in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and healthcare regulations, including patient privacy (HIPAA) and infection control protocols.
  • Follow infection control procedures to maintain a safe and sterile environment for patients and staff.
  • Administer vaccinations and provide preventive care following established guidelines.

Education:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).

License:

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.

Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required depending on the patient population.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in urgent care, emergency department, or a similar fast-paced healthcare environment preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in triaging patients and providing care in urgent settings.
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple patients simultaneously.
