Job Title: Speech Therapist
Location: Sioux Falls, SD, 57105
Shift: 8 Hours Day Shift

Position Summary:
The Speech Therapist provides comprehensive speech and language therapy services to individuals with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. The role includes assessment, treatment planning, and therapy implementation for individuals across the lifespan, with an emphasis on fostering independence and improving quality of life. The Speech Therapist II may also be responsible for training and supervising less experienced therapists or therapy assistants.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed assessments of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Utilize standardized testing methods and observational tools to evaluate the severity and type of impairment.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and patient goals.
  • Provide direct therapy for speech, language, fluency, voice, articulation, and swallowing disorders.
  • Use evidence-based practices and a variety of therapy techniques (e.g., oral motor exercises, augmentative communication systems).
  • Monitor and document patient progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on techniques to support communication and swallowing at home.
  • Provide training in the use of assistive technology or communication devices as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, and educators, to ensure holistic patient care.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

License:

  • Active and unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license in the state.

Certification:

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed Speech Therapist, with experience working in a similar setting preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in assessing and treating a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and augmentative communication systems.
