Job Title: Special Procedures Technologist 
Location: Austell, GA, 30160
Shift: 4x10-hour shifts per week, Day Shift (7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) with on-call requirements (12 shifts per 4-week period, Friday through Sunday, 1 to 2 calls per month)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Special Procedures Technologist to assist in providing safe, age-appropriate care by performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Vascular Access unit. Working under the direction of the Chief Technologist and Vascular Institute Manager, this role requires a professional who can independently perform a wide variety of technical procedures, ensuring high-quality diagnostic studies while adhering to sterile techniques and patient safety protocols.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Complete vascular interventional competencies and demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Work collaboratively with radiologists, vascular surgeons, and cardiologists
  • Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring all supplies and equipment are ready
  • Follow sterile techniques and preprocedural verification, including time-out forms
  • Perform procedures in various settings, including IR, vascular hybrid, and neuro-interventional
  • Document procedures and enter charges for supplies and services
  • Maintain stock levels, departmental records, and compliance with Joint Commission standards and other regulatory bodies
  • Ensure patient privacy, comfort, and education, providing home care instructions post-procedure

Job Responsibilities:

  • Independently function during procedures after orientation and competency completion
  • Provide quality care and use radiation protection techniques
  • Demonstrate flexibility with hours and availability for scheduled shifts and on-call rotations
  • Communicate effectively and provide patient-centered care using AIDET principles
  • Participate in training and in-service sessions for staff development

Patient Safety & Quality:

  • Verify patient ID using two identifiers and confirm written orders and consent
  • Ensure site/side marking compliance and documentation standards
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications and credentials

Required Certifications (upon hire):

  • ARRT (Cardiovascular Interventional, Radiography, or Vascular Intervention Radiology) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Required Minimum Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in Interventional Special Procedures, including work in IR, cardiac, or vascular hybrid settings.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to function independently in interventional/vascular procedures after competency is established
  • Expertise in patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection
  • Knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and how they affect diagnostic procedures
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills
