Schedule Notes:

13-week assignment. Mostly 1:00 PM - 11:30 PM shifts, with some 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM shifts (4x10s). Every other weekend required. Thanksgiving holiday required (1:00 PM - 11:30 PM). No on-call, no float. This is for the Imaging Department (inpatient, outpatient, and ER).

Job Summary:

The CT Scan Technologist performs complex computer tomography (CT) procedures, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation, and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures. The technologist ensures patient safety, prepares and operates CT equipment, and maintains high standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex CT procedures in accordance with protocols and patient needs.
  • Use professional judgment to review and document patients' clinical histories.
  • Prepare, screen, and review contrast media questionnaire and scan documents into EPIC.
  • Administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
  • Verify patient prescriptions and collaborate with radiologists and physicians for additional information or new prescriptions if needed.
  • Schedule and verify insurance for exams, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Obtain outside studies (CDs) and ensure they are compared by radiologists.
  • Provide exam copies to patients, physicians, and family members.
  • Evaluate radiographs in the PACS system, ensuring proper identification and diagnostic value.
  • Gather information from the medical record, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare protocols for patient safety.
  • Prepare patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization devices.
  • Determine the appropriate type and dose of contrast and provide clear instructions to patients.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor patients' physical condition for any adverse reactions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.

Skills & Experience:

Required:

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning of the human body.
  • Familiarity with the mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware.
  • Thorough knowledge of PACS systems.
  • Ability to maintain CEU credits.
  • ARRT (CT) certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.

Preferred:

  • Six months of CT experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPIC and HIS/RIS systems.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications & Licenses:

Required:

  • NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred: ARRT Certified R.T.(CT) license preferred.
