Job Title: MRI Technologist
Location: Long Island City, NY 11102

Duties:

  1. Perform clinical, technical, and administrative tasks as required.
  2. Execute MRI imaging procedures, operating and preparing specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging.
  3. Assist in patient preparation and positioning for MRI procedures.
  4. Apply technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs.
  5. Educate patients on specific imaging procedures, informing them of the procedure details and any necessary instructions.
  6. Review patient safety questionnaires and follow MRI safety precautions prior to scanning.
  7. Ensure patient clearance before transitioning from zone 2 to zone 3.
  8. Assist in administering opaque media and loading power injector under aseptic technique.
  9. Position patients and coils for optimum study results.
  10. Scan and manage patient-related documents.
  11. Label all images according to department SOP.
  12. Assist physicians as required during procedures.
  13. Evaluate radiographs for technical quality and ensure timely transmission to PACS.
  14. Maintain cleanliness of radiology room and equipment, including soiled linen removal.
  15. Ensure adequate supplies and accessories in imaging rooms.
  16. Accurately record patient tracking information in the IDX Radiology Information System.
  17. Schedule exams and ensure timely completion in the IDX system.
  18. Report needed equipment repairs or unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
  19. Adhere to infection control policies to prevent the spread of infection.
  20. Attend in-services and professional development meetings as required.
  21. Maintain licensure and adhere to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.

Education:

  • Minimum Education: Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Licensing Requirements: New York State License (L.R.T.), NY State IV Certification.
  • Certification Requirements: ARRT (MRI certified), BLS certification.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Languages:

  • English (Speak, Read, Write)

  • Hours Per Week: 37.50
  • Hours Per Day: 7.50
  • Days Per Week: 5.00
  • Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM (Monday-Friday)
