Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Emergency Department (ED)

Job Summary:

  • As an Emergency Department RN, you will be on the front lines, ready to provide critical care to pediatric patients when they need it most.
  • In this role, you'll deliver specialized and innovative services, equipped to handle a wide range of emergency situations specific to pediatric care.
  • You will be trained to manage various trauma scenarios, requiring quick and decisive action.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to swiftly and accurately assess incoming patients with both physical and mental health conditions, prioritizing their medical needs accordingly.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • A minimum of 18 months of Nursing experience in a pediatric ED environment.
  • Demonstrated performance and practice are essential.
  • Must have ED experience within the past six months.
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to create effective nursing care plans.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

Education:

  • Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Certifications & Licensure:

  • Required:
    • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association.
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • Preferred:
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Heart Association.
    • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC).

Languages: English (Speak, Read, Write)

Schedule Notes:

  • Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays as needed
  • No on-call duties
  • 13-week assignment
  • 2+ years of recent Pediatric ED experience required
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS (All required)
  • This is a fast-paced, high-acuity Pediatric Emergency Department with patient volumes reaching up to 80 per day.
  • Float requirements: Float within the department, including ED Adult, Pediatric, and Intermediate Care Unit (IMC).
