Job Title: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
Duration: 3+ Months(Extendable)
Work Location: Bronx, NY
Shift Timing: 7:00 PM-7:30 AM

Requirement: Active State RN License, Primary Source Verification, AHA BLS, ACLS, NRP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized nursing care to laboring patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
  • Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rates, and labor progress, and respond to any complications or emergencies.
  • Administer medications, including pain management, as prescribed and ensure effective pain relief for patients.
  • Assist with the induction and augmentation of labor as needed.
  • Support patients through all stages of labor and delivery, providing physical and emotional support.
  • Assist obstetricians and midwives during delivery, including cesarean sections and other surgical procedures.
  • Prepare delivery rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functional.
  • Provide immediate postpartum care to mothers and newborns, including monitoring vital signs, facilitating skin-to-skin contact, and assisting with breastfeeding.
  • Educate new mothers on postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding techniques.
  • Perform newborn assessments and provide initial care, including Apgar scoring, bathing, and ensuring the baby's warmth and safety.
  • Educate patients and families on the labor and delivery process, pain management options, and postpartum care.
  • Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including labor progress, interventions, and patient responses.
  • Report any changes in patient condition to the healthcare team promptly and accurately.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in shift handovers, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols, including infection control and safety standards.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, families, and staff.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure: Current NY Registered Nurse (RN) license

Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in labor and delivery or Mother/ Baby

Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required;
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
