Job Summary:

The Vascular Coordinator performs basic and advanced ultrasound examinations following established protocols to ensure accurate diagnostic imaging.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ultrasound Examinations: Perform basic and advanced ultrasound scans as prescribed by established protocols.
  • Review & Monitoring: Review doctors' interpretations and patient files; monitor patients during procedures.
  • Interventional Assistance: Assist in the performance of interventional procedures as needed.
  • Imaging Techniques: Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning, and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images.
  • Image Management: Capture images onto the PACS system and transfer them to physician workstations.
  • Image Evaluation: Evaluate images prior to patient release to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Exam Room Preparation: Prepare the exam room for procedures by ensuring all necessary inventory and stock are in place prior to the radiologist's arrival.
  • Quality Control: Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and improvement activities, and document accordingly.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inform appropriate personnel of equipment failures, document the issue and any associated downtime, and maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment to comply with infection control and departmental protocols.
  • Patient Education: Provide patient education related to specific ultrasound studies.
  • Safety & Communication: Ensure patient and family safety, and communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, family members, and other employees.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Experience: 1 year of experience performing ultrasounds preferred.
  • Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or CCI.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Education:

  • Graduate of a two-year ultrasound program with clinical and didactic education.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • ARDMS or CCI Certification
  • Infection Control Certification

Languages:

  • English: Speak, Read, Write.
