Shifts: Days (07:00 - 19:00) & Nights (19:00 - 07:00)
Job Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension
Weekly Blended Pay Range: $2000 - $2250 (Based on Experience)

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intermediate Care (IMC) unit provides professional nursing care to patients who require a higher level of care than a regular medical-surgical unit but do not require the intensive monitoring of an ICU. The RN will assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. They will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver patient-centered care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment and Monitoring:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical, psychological, and social aspects.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, and interpret and respond to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Utilize advanced clinical skills to provide care for patients with complex medical conditions.

Care Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop individualized care plans based on patient assessment data.
  • Implement and evaluate care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Ensure continuity of care by effectively communicating patient status and needs during shift changes.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Accurately document patient care activities, assessments, and interventions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Report significant changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare provider promptly.

Patient and Family Education:

  • Educate patients and their families about the patient’s condition, treatment plan, and ongoing care needs.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced nursing staff and students.

Quality Improvement and Professional Development:

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.
  • Engage in continuing education opportunities to advance nursing knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain professional licensure and certifications.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience in a medical-surgical or intermediate care setting.
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring preferred.
