Position: Oncology Nurse 
Location: Hackensack, NJ

Hours Per Week: 36.00

Hours Per Day: 12.00

Days Per Week: 3.00

Schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Every other weekend required. Holidays required. No on-call. 13 Weeks Contract. Must have at least 1+ years of oncology experience. Must be willing to float. Chemo certification with ONS preferred. Proficient with central line care and blood product administration. Required: BLS-AHA. ACLS-AHA

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care. The RN will plan, implement, and document nursing care based on patient needs, and provide patient-centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice models.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, implement, and document nursing care based on patient needs.
• Identify patient needs and determine priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized plans of care for patients through initial and ongoing assessments.
• Initiate assessments based on patient problems or needs, physician’s medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
• Perform therapeutic nursing interventions and manage the care of patients.
• Document care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
• Advocate for evidence-based practice care standards and support the adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
• Provide patient-centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice models.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in acute adult oncology, specializing in leukemia & lymphoma, in an inpatient setting.

Education:

• Required Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
• New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

• Telemetry certification.
• Chemotherapy certification with Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).

Certifications & Licenses:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Registered Nurse (RN) License.

Languages:

• Proficient in English (Speak, Read, Write).

Additional Requirements:

• Must be willing to float between units as needed.
• Proficient in central line care and blood product administration.
