Job Overview:

The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for facilitating all aspects of provider credentialing, including initial appointment, reappointment, credential audits, as well as clinical privileging for Medical Staff, Allied Health Professionals, and all other providers as outlined in the corporate policy and procedures or hospital bylaws. The incumbent will utilize MD Staff credentialing software application to perform and monitor all credentialing/background checks, while maintaining accuracy and data integrity. Additionally, the Credentialing Specialist will be responsible for interpretation and compliance with the appropriate accrediting and regulatory agencies, while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and laws relating to credentialing. This position requires on-site work and is not remote.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the initial appointment and reappointment process for all providers.
  • Conduct credential audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Manage clinical privileging for Medical Staff, Allied Health Professionals, and other providers.
  • Utilize MDStaff credentialing software application to perform and monitor credentialing and background checks.
  • Maintain accuracy and data integrity in all credentialing activities.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies' requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of statutes and laws relating to credentialing.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address credentialing-related issues and concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of provider credentialing information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • Certification in healthcare credentialing (e.g., Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist, CPMS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in provider credentialing in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in using credentialing software applications, preferably MDStaff.
  • Strong understanding of accrediting and regulatory agencies' requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, NCQA).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
