Position Overview: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, hands-on support to students with special needs, ensuring they can participate fully in the school day. Under the supervision of classroom teachers and school nursing staff, the CNA supports students’ physical, emotional, and educational needs in a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist students with personal care, including toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene.
Support students during classroom activities, transitions, and mobility throughout the school.
Follow IEP accommodations and behavior support plans under teacher direction.
Monitor and maintain student safety at all times.
Provide assistance with lifting, positioning, and use of mobility equipment.
Accompany students during lunch, recess, and school activities.
Document observations, incidents, and progress per school protocols.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to promote independence and inclusion.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with district and state regulations.
Participate in staff meetings and required training.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
