Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Job Type: Long-Term Contract
Work Setting: Onsite

Project Overview

We are supporting a large-scale airport technology environment that requires skilled IT professionals to support, maintain, and enhance critical systems across multiple airport facilities. These long-term contract roles operate within a complex, mission-critical infrastructure supporting airport operations, security, communications, and enterprise analytics. Successful candidates will play a key role in building and maintaining the data platforms that enable reliable reporting, operational intelligence, and data-driven decision-making across airport systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, S3, and Redshift to support enterprise analytics and reporting needs
  • Develop and optimize SQL and Python-based data transformation logic to clean, standardize, and structure data for downstream analytics consumption
  • Manage and maintain Amazon Redshift environments, including schema design, table structures, performance tuning, and storage optimization
  • Monitor data pipelines and workflows to identify failures, latency issues, and data quality problems, and implement timely corrective actions
  • Integrate data from multiple airport operational systems (such as AODB, QMS, FIDS, finance, HR, and concessions systems) into centralized data platforms
  • Support Power BI datasets, data models, gateway configurations, and refresh processes to ensure consistent and reliable reporting performance
  • Troubleshoot complex data ingestion, transformation, and warehouse performance issues across cloud and reporting layers
  • Document data pipelines, system architectures, ETL processes, and data flow dependencies to ensure transparency and maintainability
  • Support onboarding of new data sources and contribute to enhancements in data architecture and analytics platform capabilities
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for data ingestion, data warehouse, and BI dataset-related issues, ensuring timely resolution of production incidents
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support data engineering and analytics operations

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or cloud-based data integration roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including Glue, Lambda, S3, IAM, and Redshift
  • Advanced SQL skills with strong proficiency in Python for data processing and automation
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts including dimensional modeling, star schema design, and performance optimization
  • Familiarity with Power BI datasets, data modeling, and refresh/performance tuning
  • Understanding of enterprise or airport operational datasets (AODB, operations, finance, HR, concessions) is preferred
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with ability to resolve complex data issues
  • Experience with version control systems and documentation best practices
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Data Engineer or Power BI certifications are a plus
