Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)

Location: Rochester, NY

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: 4x12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Summary

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-acuity emergency care to adult and geriatric patients presenting with a wide range of medical, surgical, trauma, neurological, and critical conditions. The RN is responsible for triage, rapid assessment, stabilization, medication administration, and coordination of emergency interventions in a fast-paced ED environment. Strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage complex, life-threatening situations are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State RN License required (must be in hand; no exceptions).
  • Current BLS Certification required.
  • Current ACLS Certification required.
  • Current NIHSS Certification required.
  • Minimum recent Emergency Department experience required.
  • EPIC EMR experience required.
  • Strong experience with ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP, and IV vasopressors required.
  • Experience in trauma, neuro, and cardiac emergencies required.
  • Ability to manage high-acuity patient ratios (1:5).

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care for adult and geriatric patients.
  • Perform triage, rapid assessment, and stabilization of emergency cases.
  • Administer IV medications, blood products, and emergency therapies.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias and cardiac events.
  • Manage ventilated and respiratory-compromised patients.
  • Care for trauma, stroke, neuro-trauma, and orthopedic emergency cases.
  • Perform phlebotomy, IV insertion, and central line management.
  • Collaborate with physicians, RTs, and interdisciplinary ED teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC.
  • Float within scope of practice as required.
