Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg (Telemetry)

Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Pay Rate: $66–$75/hour
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Schedule: 3 Days per Week | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours Weekly
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend + Some Holidays

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a high-acuity hospital setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, telemetry monitoring skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Candidates should have recent hospital-based nursing experience and be comfortable managing complex patient care assignments with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry readings

  • Start IVs and perform phlebotomy/lab draws as needed

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document care accurately

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care

  • Administer medications and treatments according to hospital protocols

  • Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately

  • Maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems (EPIC preferred)

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and HIPAA regulations

  • Work scheduled weekends and holidays as required

Requirements

  • Active New York State RN License

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Acute Care experience

  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips

  • Experience starting IVs and drawing labs

  • Current BLS Certification

  • Strong communication and clinical assessment skills

  • Ability to work independently in a high-acuity environment

  • Flexible scheduling availability (no fixed days off)

Preferred

  • Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Hospital

  • EPIC EMR Experience

  • Previous Telemetry Nursing Experience

  • Experience caring for high-acuity medical-surgical patients

Additional Requirements

  • Must have valid authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Must pass background check, drug screening, and health clearance

  • No history of license suspension or disciplinary investigation
