Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg (Telemetry)
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Pay Rate: $66–$75/hour
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Schedule: 3 Days per Week | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours Weekly
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend + Some Holidays
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a high-acuity hospital setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, telemetry monitoring skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Candidates should have recent hospital-based nursing experience and be comfortable managing complex patient care assignments with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit
Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry readings
Start IVs and perform phlebotomy/lab draws as needed
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document care accurately
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
Administer medications and treatments according to hospital protocols
Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately
Maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems (EPIC preferred)
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and HIPAA regulations
Work scheduled weekends and holidays as required
Requirements
Active New York State RN License
Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Acute Care experience
Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
Experience starting IVs and drawing labs
Current BLS Certification
Strong communication and clinical assessment skills
Ability to work independently in a high-acuity environment
Flexible scheduling availability (no fixed days off)
Preferred
Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Hospital
EPIC EMR Experience
Previous Telemetry Nursing Experience
Experience caring for high-acuity medical-surgical patients
Additional Requirements
Must have valid authorization to work in the U.S.
Must pass background check, drug screening, and health clearance
No history of license suspension or disciplinary investigation
